CO²:
Driving a Porsche 993 for 5000 km per year produces a comparable quantity of CO² as eating 1 New Zeeland imported kiwi per week. A pair of jeans travels 23.000km before ending up in your closet. So even though we should not exaggerate the impact of our hobby on planet earth, it doesn't hurt thinking about it from time to time. But that doesn't mean we need to stop driving our fantastic collectors cars. A couple of simple examples:
1) Reduce the proportion of meat in your diet. Cattle raised for meat consumption produce many times more CO² than the same amount of vegetal nutrition would.
2) Buy durable products. Everything you buy, has to be produced, packaged, transported, sold and recycled. All these activities create CO² (and many other forms of pollution) and increase traffic. If you buy it once every 10 instead of every 5 years, the above gets divided by two and you get to enjoy better quality products.
3) Eat regional and seasonal fruits and vegetables. They are available in a very broad variety all year long and a very small change to our habbits can make a big difference.
4) Improve the insulation of your house and office. On average, a Belgian house is insulated like a Portuguese one where the climate is significantly less cold.
5) Use emission efficient transportation whenever you can, for example for daily home-work travel, city travel, etc.
